A recent report by Carnegie Mellon’s CyLab found that identity thieves are targeting children’s Social Security numbers. Using data from an identity monitoring company, researchers found the identities of 4,311 children were being used by someone else. The youngest victim was 5 months old.

Bulgarian pleads guilty in child ID theft case

A Bulgarian man who used a stolen name to work for Oregon’s state liquor agency has pleaded guilty to passport fraud and aggravated identity theft. The stolen identity was of a slain Ohio boy.

Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum issued a warning to parents last week about the importance of guarding children’s identities.
