A Revenue Enterprises employee responsible for The Children’s Hospital’s billing was fired after her employers learned she financed her Las Vegas vacation with the credit card belonging to a patient’s parents.
Marcus and Heather Oginsky of Denver gave the Revenue Employee their credit card information when they made a payment by phone for their son’s surgery at the Denver hospital.
“It’s one thing to steal, but to steal from people who obviously have been through a hard, … I think you have to be a pretty bad person,” said Heather Oginsky. “It’s just so low.”
An estimated 500 to 1,000 families shared their financial information with the terminated employee. Revenue Enterprises CEO Tim Brainerd said they’re still trying to determine whether any of them might have been taken advantage of like the Oginskys.
The Excalibur Hotel, where the employee stayed during her vacation, is going to write off the loss, and will not be pursuing any legal action against the employee. And the Denver Police notified the Oginskys that they wouldn’t pursue their complaint unless the Excalibur decided to press charges, citing their identity theft and credit card fraud backlog.
The pre-employment background check didn’t send up any red flags before the employee began working at Revenue Enterprises, the company said. And, much to the Oginsky’s frustration, even after this incident, she’ll pass the next one.

OMG! I give out my credit card and debit card information over the phone all the time! I always just assume I can trust them. It’s really scary to think that anyone could use it to buy something or go on vacation. That poor family.
You gotta be nuts to give your info out over the phone! this lady was just doing it to pay a bill, and it’s not like she was talking to a fake bill collector or anything. she was just unlucky to get one who stole her info!
That’s crazy that nobody’s doing anything about it!!
I cannot believe this is true!
